I totally agree with this post. We have had many unfortunate situations where we are helping people move and there is not enough room for everything on their truck. One of our customers had to order a THIRD 1800packrat unit, because the first two were not enough. We just helped a customer the other day, that rented a 24′ truck, and it wasn’t enough for all the family’s belongings. He had to rent a second truck.
Alot of great information here regarding selling stuff to save money by relocating less items and also good way to make money to help with the moving costs. Thanks for the great information!
An alternative for getting rid of some of your better furniture and décor you don’t want to move is to consign. It is a way of getting rid of things without the hassle of a garage sale or watching your good things being thrown on a donation truck with little respect. Consignment shops can be picky what they take so we found out what they would accept. Since there was furniture and wall décor involved, we waited until a week before the move to have them picked up so we could keep the house staged (it sold quick). Do check to see what their policy is as far as how long they keep it for sale, your cut, and what they do with it if it isn’t sold.
