Police recovered a batch of stolen mosquito nets in Nyando sub-county that is suspected of being part of a consignment that was recently stolen from health facilities in Nyang’ande and Rabuor.

Confirming the breakthrough, Kisumu County Police Commander Samuel Anampiu said Obunga police in Kisumu relied on intelligence and raided a woman’s home and recovered 19 bullets. stolen nets. Each ball contains 50 fillets worth 400 shillings each.

More than 17,000 mosquito nets have been stolen from public health facilities and the police have carried out investigations to find the culprits.

The woman behind the theft saga has been identified as Mercy Awino Ochola, with police investigations ongoing and the suspects should be brought to justice in due course.

Barely a week has passed after similar mosquito net thefts occurred at the facilities, with residents now decrying the trend and demanding tough action be taken against those responsible for the crimes.
